 Which Business in the Town are you a part of?

I run an independent retail business in Hexham.

What is your role on the BID board?

Chairperson (volunteer)

Operational Lead – helping to set up the BID Company (volunteer)

How long have you been involved and in what capacity?

From beginning – volunteer steering group as vice chair and later as chair (approx. 5 months)

Why did you get involved with the BID?

To help the town’s business and retail sector have a voice in their town.  Also to help deliver projects to encourage foot flow to the businesses.  To see the town much improved and cleaner and greener.

What other local businesses or community organisations are you involved with?

An informal group of independent businesses / retailers who meet up when necessary to discuss business, parking, joint advertising, amongst other things.

What do you bring to the BID?

I am an approachable, hardworking and loyal person, very customer focussed, with 20 years management experience, and 10 years’ experience of running my own business with my husband.  Experience of staffing, training, setting targets, knowledge of setting up a business, buying, negotiating best prices, marketing knowledge.

What do you hope to see the BID deliver in Hexham over the next five years?

A car parking solution, a cleaner more vibrant Hexham, both in the centre and the industrial areas.

The bringing together of the different groups in the town to achieve common aims and best ideas to further enhance the shopping and visitor experience.
